LDBS Academies Trust

Equality

The LDBS Academies Trust (LAT and LAT 2) family of schools is committed to providing an inclusive, high-quality education for all pupils and to being a fair, supportive employer for all staff. In line with the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty, the trust has due regard to the need to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct prohibited by the Act.

  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

The protected characteristics covered by the Equality Act 2010 are: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

Across the trust and its schools, leaders and governors consciously consider equality implications when making decisions about policies, curriculum, admissions, staffing, behaviour and exclusions, premises and the wider life of each school. The Trust expects all schools to promote a culture of dignity and respect, challenge prejudice and discrimination and remove barriers to participation and achievement.

To meet the specific duties of the Public Sector Equality Duty, the Trust:

  • Publishes information annually that demonstrates how it is meeting the general equality duty in relation to pupils and staff across the trust.

  • Sets and publishes specific, measurable equality objectives which are reviewed regularly and updated at least every four years.

Each school within the trust also publishes its own equality information and local equality objectives, reflecting its community and context, within the framework set by the trust.
