LDBS Academies Trust

Equality

Across the LDBS Academies Trust (LAT and LAT 2), we believe that equality and inclusion are fundamental to ensuring that every pupil can achieve, belong and thrive, regardless of background, identity, need or circumstance. We are committed to providing an inclusive, high-quality education for all pupils.
We also believe in being a fair, supportive employer for all staff and respect our duties under the Equality Act 2010 and our Public Sector Equality Duty, which require us to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct prohibited by the Act.

  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

The protected characteristics covered by the Equality Act 2010 are: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

Across the trust and its schools, leaders and governors consciously consider equality implications when making decisions about policies, curriculum, admissions, staffing, behaviour and exclusions, premises and the wider life of each school. The Trust expects all schools to promote a culture of dignity and respect, challenge prejudice and discrimination and remove barriers to participation and achievement.

The trust publishes a Trust-wide Equality Information and Objectives Policy setting out how it meets its duties under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty. We also publish an Inclusion and SEND Strategy and a Gender Pay Gap Report.

Individual schools demonstrate their local priorities, barriers, actions and impact through their annual Inclusion and Equality Statement, Accessibility Plan and other statutory information, reflecting the needs and characteristics of their own communities.
